Cleveland Squeezer with a 2.5" no-hole yoke.
The Beginning (08/29/06)
Well, I've decided on the RV-7A. That is subject to change obviously, but for the time being thats my decision.
I've bought my preview plans and I'm slowly collecting tools. I got what I think is a good deal on a pneumatic squeezer off ebay.
At the end of September we're moving to a new place with a 2 car garage so I can get started. WOO!

We've Moved! (and I've changed projects) (10/13/06)
Getting good and settled in the new place - I've got the lights hung in the garage and I'm planning the workbench. This weekend I'm going to hit Home Depot and look for something to insulate the garage door with. I'm hoping to deaden the noise some and keep the temps in the garage a bit more constant.
I've evaluated my goals and decided that the Sonex is a bit more suited to my goals than an RV7 at the moment. In my mind it is a bit more managable project - time and $$-wise. I'll build a 7 next :)

Plans review (10/17/06)
I must say, I'm definately impressed with the plans so far. I look at mechanical & architectural drawings every day and I've never seen a set of prints as complete as the Sonex drawings.
The parts system takes a bit of staring to really grasp, but I think I've got it. Now to get my workbench finished and get some al.

Sonex Kit on Order!!! (10/31/06)
Well, I decided to save myself quite a bit of time and fabrication and ordered the airframe kit. For now I'm building a standard gear, dual stick, AeroVee powered Sonex.
If I win the lottery between now and when I get ready to drill the engine mount I'll put a Jab 3300 in, otherwise I'm sticking with the AeroVee.

Estimated Ship Date (11/12/06)
After a bit of confusion over the deposit, my kit has an estimated ship date of January 17, 2007. It'll be a bit late for Christmas, but close enough. Merry Christmas to ME!!!
The kit ships tommorow!!! (1/16/07)
Well, the final payment has been processed and the Sonex airframe kit is shipping tommorow!!! It is supposed to be shipping Con-way and their website estimates a 2 day ship time for a Friday delivery. My Dad is a sales guy for a trucking company so I've heard the horror storys all my life of trucking mishaps (fork through the pallet, etc) and shipping delays so I'm not expecting it to arrive on time. Maybe I'll be surprised, but I doubt it. I'm still excited though.
