Hers a shot from the air. Our plot is in that triangular tongue of trees ahead of the wingtip. Although the neighbors look close, I cannot see another light from any direction at night.

Here it is from the ground.

What......Are you kidding??
Kelly Johnson didn't let anybody see in HIS shop..! (Lockheed skunk works)

Oh all right....

These are pics of my new shop in NC. It is the 3rd shop the RV has lived in since the start in 2005.

My shop...hmmm. There is a story behind this shop. As I said in the "builder" section, I have dreamed of building an airplane since the '70's. Every house that I have owned has included a "space". You know what I mean....THE space. I had not really broached the subject of airplane construction with Diane during this long period.
She and I had a running disagreement about utilization of THE SPACE, until the flying started recently and the build started. All is well!!

Reels
One of the best things I did was to put reels for air and power in the ceiling. Home Depo provided the units. Air reel was about $45 with hose and the power one was about $30. I could not pass up the air reel since it was the best price I'd ever seen.

Here is my main fabrication table. I obtained this beast about 25 years ago and it has served well for many projects (not just aviation). The big water tanks in the background are hot water storage from the solar panels on the roof. The shop floor is hot water radiant heated. Yeah..

This shot shows the overall length of the shop. There is room to fully assemble the RV (tight yes) and get the last 10% done here before moving to the airport.

This shot looks over the fab table to the cabinet and counter tops I put in for storage and small work. THe place is still a wreck. I have not finished "moving in" so there are miscellaneous items still out of the counter.

So this is as close to my "dream shop" as I am going to get. We moved into these new digs in Sept '08. I got my honeydo's completed to the point of restarting on the RV on Nov 7, '08.
I am still working on storage of those "misc" items that are hard to file.

This view is looking from the fuselage toward the fab table. Just before I moved from Hanover in 2006, that small milling machine fell into my lap at the last minute. I had to say "Yes, I'll take it". I just started using it seriously a couple of days ago (Nov 2008)

Yeah OK, I do have other hobbies than flying. Got a closeup of the rolling workcenter with drill press, grinder, buff, and scroll saw. Like Bengelis says.."Put EVERYTHING on wheels"

Phase 2 - Hangar
When I moved to the hangar last year, I pretty much dumped all my tools and stuff in the corner. Made some horizontal space with some boards spanning between a table and sawhorse.

Been thinking recently about putting in some shelves and doing some organizing because the table has so much junk on it I cant use it to work.

This weekend there was a monsoon in Asheville so I bought the pieces I needed from the Depo and went to work.
Got the shelves up and did first run of organizing. I still have a table full of loose stuff I need to file away.
