Instrument Rating
Back in mid 2007 I began working on my intrument panel design in earnest. I have always intended to use the RV for instrument flight. I became quickly aware that I did not have the experience to make educated IFR panel decisions. SO, down to the airport I went and signed up for Instrument lessons. In early 2008, many NDB approaches later (UGH), I tricked the examiner into believing I knew what I was doing and he approved me! Seriously, that was one of the happiest days of my life. For me, it ranked up there with the other common "life changers". I found this exercise to be very challenging. I remember humming the song "Walkin' on Sunshine" on my flight back to home base after leaving the examiners site.

And yes, my panel design DID change, so the initial assumption that I needed training was correct.
