Welcome to my RV-7A homebuilt airplane construction log.

The project Started March 1, 2005 and went quickly for a year. Diane and I relocated to western NC, from PA, during which the construction went on 18 month hold. Construction activities renewed Jan 2008. First flight was April 15, 2012. Phase 1 testing finished June 3, 2012.

This web page is organized by subject rather than calendar. (subject index is on the left of your screen) In order to easily see a picture of the completed craft, click on these links:

I continued to fly during the construction hiatus noted above. This included trips and training for my IFR ticket. I passed my Instrument checkride in March of 2008. Yayysa!

Please feel free to browse through this site and, if you are a fellow builder, benefit from my experiences. The site is not set up to record "post completion" activities like maintenance or trips so additions to this site will quickly draw to a halt in 2012.

If you are new to experimental aviation, you may learn more about my particular aircraft, from the kit manufacturer, by choosing the "Project" link in the menu at the left.

If you see a place where I have deviated from the kit manufacturer's instructions, please do not consider it an "approved" change. These are experimental projects. Use what you see here at your own risk.
