It looks kinda beasty here, but is simply needing attention

Tom Lyon AVID CATALINA
Our EAA Club #263 was working on this amphibious beauty. After some time, most of us had our own projects going and progress on the Catalina was slowing. I grew rather fond of it while covering the wings every Wednesday night through the previous winter with some of the others in the club. Although I had a Fisher Horizon well underway, I knew the Catalina Project would be gone if I didn't take a leap to buy it. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with two airplane projects at the time, but I did have a little time to work out details. Yvonne was visiting our daughter in N. Carolina, so I had to move quick. After a lot of thought and consideration, I decided to sell the Fisher before I ended up in hot water. I really hated to part with it, but it went to a good home and I'm confident it will see some air under the tires at Sun N Fun one day down the road.

The challenge before me now is to set a time frame to get it finished and flying. Visit my guestbook, always glad to hear from others who are interested in building and flying. Thanks for looking!

I think someone borrowed the basketball to shoot hoops a long time ago!

One Month Into It
I've logged a little over 40 hours in December. The majority of the progress has been in the way of getting shop set up and figuring out what to do first. I've moved some of the parts I won't be needing for a while to my garage at home, so they won't be in the way and subjected to possible damage. There are still many parts in boxes that I have not identified yet.

One of these afternoons or evenings, I will need to sit down with the parts and the builders manual. As I pull a part out of the box, I will I.D. it using a manilla tag with a little additional verbage. Actually, the more I look, the more parts I begin wondering about. Just hope the majority of it is here. So, for now I'd say no problem encountered that is too high-a-hurdle.

Chronological Summary
One month into the project, I guess its okay to think a lot about possibilities. Physical progress seems slow, but I am confident that it will pick up here real soon.

By the time December came around again, I could not believe how little progress I was making. I have spent a lot of time studying, reviewing and straightening out the literature. Biggest problem was trying to figure out what was the old literature for Avid Amphib and what was the newer literature for the Catalina. I had it all, but it was not organized in a fashion that I could easily understand. (basically, all mixed up). Started considering the possibilities of taking it home
