This will be my Rans S-18.
Rans S-18 Build Log
I like to fly, always have. I took several lessons while I was in highschool then I joined the Airforce to become a mechanic. I continued the lessons off and on when I had time. I was stationed in Okinawa flying at the areoclub but never liked the way it was set up. One day my friend told me he was taking hanggliding lessons, this sounded like fun. Turned to be the most fun I ever had. When I got bactk to the States in West Tennessee where there are no high mountains so I decided to look into other ways to fly. I started looking into ultralights and other small homebuilt aircraft. I bought my first two seater ,which was used, with a open cockpit in 2001. It wasn't quite like hanggliding but it was just as much fun. Eventually I got tired of flying at 35 mph and started looking at something faster. I decided to sell my Quicksilver and buy something else. I sold it. While I was saving more money I decided to buy a rans S-18. Well it is now in the garage and this will be my site to document the build of my next aircraft.

The hanger
When I had my Quicksilver I rented hanger space from Mark Mcnabb, a farmer in west Tennessee. He has a 2000ft runway and built a 50 x 100 rental hanger and charges $100 a month. He still lets me fly his trainer from time to time.
