Here I am on the big day that my kit arrived. I know it's a little early to be making vroom, vroom noises but I can dream of the day!

My name is R. Mike Jacobson but I generally just go by Jake. I just turned 60 and like many my age, am really just a young guy wondering what the H*** happened????
I'm a late bloomer and didn't start flying until I was 49 (that's one of this life's bigest regrets). I'm married with 7 kids and 11 grandkids (no regrets here). My sweet young bride of 31 years isn't much into flying but she's an angel to support me in my nasty habit.
I just retired from the U.S Navy Reserve after giving them 30 years. I retired as a Master Chief Equipmentman (EQCM) in the Naval Construction Force (Seabees). Now I have one extra weekend a month and two more weeks a year I can devote to building and flying (plus - no more trips to Iraq). I figure I've got about 5 more years until I can retire from my civilian job as a Correctional Officer for the state of Utah then just watch all the holes I will be punching in the sky over Utah.
I love building aircraft almost as much as I love flying them (but not as much as I love my wife and family). So, here we go with my latest project.
