Van's prototype - We will use the "slider" canopy instead of the "tip-up" in this picture.

Welcome to the home of N288RV!
Glad that you could join us for the building of a Van's Aircraft RV-7A. Check back at these pages frequently to catch up on our progress, learn from our mistakes and get new ideas for your own project.

We look forward to your company . . . and your comments along the way.

I think we have a winner!

Paint Schemes
After reviewing several hundred paint schemes (both live and via photographs) I think we have a winner. Both Rodney and I agree this paint job has the "look" we wanted. Something that says fast and flashy, without being over the top.

We'll try to find someone locally that can duplicate it pretty close . . . or try to find the owner of the original and ask for permission to borrow their design (and maybe the original drawings).

The wings are bolted on ready for measurements and drilling of final structures.

Latest Update - 06/03/12
Today was a red letter day in our build. We hung the wings on the fuselage for the first time, to test the fit, and check all the angles to ensure they are square and not twisted.

What Rodney thought would take us all day (hanging the wings and getting the bolts through the spar), ended up taking less than an hour. We spent the rest of the day taking all the measurements to ensure that everything is exactly where its supposed to be.

All the measurements were right on target. The angle of the wing is perfect from root to tip on both sides and the leading edges are perfectly straight.

No adjustments were necessary, so we went ahead and drilled the final holes in the remaining structures in preparation for final assembly.

The Finish Kit should be here this week sometime . . . then the sprint to the finish line begins.
