History of the FOKKER DR-1 Aircraft:
The DR-1 is the famous aircraft of Manfred Von Richthofen or better known as the "Red Baron". Born in 1892 in Breslau, Germany. He entered the cadet corps in 1903 at the age of 11. In 1911 he was in the military service as an cavalry officer. he transferred to a newly formed flying corps 1915 as on observer on bombing missions. This is where he encountered is first wound. Pointing to the direction of the fallen bombs, his finger grazed the airscrew sending him of the the hospital with a fractured finger. His hopes and ambitions to become a fighter pilot was realized in mid 1916 by an invitation from Oswald Boelcke the commander of Jasta 2. On there first mission for jasta 2, Manfred Von Richthofen scored his first victory on September 17 1916. This earned him the coveted Ehrenbecher (Cup of Honor).

Within a year and a half he had brought his score up to 80 victories. His skill made him the most decorated highest ace there was in World War One. He was the commander of the new Jagdgeschwader - JG nr.1 This had included Jastas 4, 6, 10 and 11. On the morning of Sunday April 21 1918 Manfred Von Richthofen was shot down and killed.
His legend remains today to be the best fighter pilot ever.
