Flight training
I started out to get my private pilots license and took my first flying lesson at Parks Air College on September 15, 1978. My last lesson was on November 18, 1978 with 17.4 hours of duel flight instruction. At this time the company I worked for decided I was needed in Wisconsin. That ended my flying lessons. Little did I realize it would be 30 years before I would start flying again!
My plan now is to find an instructor that can help me get a sport pilot license so I can fly this plane when I get it built.
Update (9-25-09)
I found a CFI, Terry Irwin in Cape Girardeau in June and we have carried on a email correspondence since then. Cape Girardeau is about 100 miles east of West Plains, but I think Terry is a really good fit for me, so I don't mind the distance. I had the chance to stop in Gape Girardeau and meet Terry on my way to the American Sonex Gathering this morning and I think Terry will be a great CFI for me.
Update (9-27-09)
Lisa and I both got to fly in a Sonex for the first time today. Robert Eley gave us rides in his beautiful Aerovee powered tri-gear N926AR on Sunday morning after the American Sonex Gathering in Crossville TN. Robert was brave enough to let us take the controls and really fly the Sonex. It was GREAT!!!
